Position Summary:
The Family Worker is responsible for implementing the social service component performance standards outlined in the Head Start Program management plans. This includes providing supportive services to the program in areas such as mental health, social services, family involvement, special needs, and community partnerships. The Family Worker collaborates with the Head Family Worker to ensure that program standards are met in accordance with the Monitoring Protocol.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Communicate With Parents
- Process family intakes, assist parents with completing applications and redeterminations.
- Coordinate parent meetings, workshops, committee meetings, and volunteer activities.
- Act as a liaison between parents, Site Directors, and Executive Director.
- Strengthen relationships with families through the family partnership agreement process and home visits.
- Encourage parent participation and oversee recruitment and scheduling of parent volunteers.
- Keep staff informed about parent issues and assist in creating a comprehensive parent involvement plan.
Documentation:
- Maintain and assist with documentation for family contacts in various service areas.
Administration:
- Work closely with the Family Worker Coordinator, Head Start Manager, and other specialists.
- Facilitate follow-up care for children and families with medical, dental, and mental health providers.
- Participate in various meetings related to program management, teaching, and families.
- Coordinate services for children with special needs and maintain disability enrollment targets.
- Attend professional development trainings and workshops.
- Provide administrative support as assigned by the Head Family Worker.
Community Relations and Partnerships:
- Build and maintain community partnerships by collaborating with the Family Worker Coordinator.
- Develop partnerships with Social Service agencies, Child Protective Services (CPS), and organizations in the community.

Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.W.) in Social Work or a related field from an accredited college or university.
