Position Summary:

This position performs all accounting functions for the Center

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Process weekly payroll.
  • Handle Mutual of America contributions.
  • Process 1099s.
  • Prepare and submit monthly DFSS vouchers.
  • Prepare and submit AFC billings.
  • Review submission of ISBE vouchers.
  • Analyze and generate AFC reports on a monthly basis.
  • Process Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Cash Receipts.
  • Prepare journal entries.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and various other accounts.
  • Analyze credit card activities.
  • Prepare audit and other documents.
  • Maintain and update various monthly reports
  • Maintain control ledgers and prepare financial and other reports.
  • Train and provide technical assistance to the accounting assistant on various accounting tasks or projects as necessary

    Job Requirements:

    Education and/or Experience:

    • B.A. degree in accounting or a related business field with a minimum of 15 semester hours in Accounting.
    • Two years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
    • A total of at least five years of relevant experience.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computerized accounting systems.

    Qualifications:

    • Good knowledge of modern accounting theory, principles, and practices.
    • Analytical skills in financial transactions and record-keeping.
    • Confidentiality maintenance and excellent communication skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
    • Detail-oriented with a logical and methodological problem-solving approach.
    • Flexibility to thrive in a demanding, stressful environment.
    • Proficiency in word processing and effective cooperation as a team member.

    Language Skills:

    • Proficient in reading and speaking English.
    • Physical Demands:
    • Regular talking, hearing, and visual acuity.
    • Occasional standing, walking, sitting, handling, and lifting (up to 30 pounds).
    • Fine hand manipulation (keyboard skills).
    • Potential for occasional work beyond 40 hours per week due to job demands.

    Work Environment:

    • Internal office space and classroom settings.
    • Moderate noise levels in the work environment.
